Highley Works: Launch

First post of this site. Wow.

There’s a lot to do here and a lot for me to learn.

This site is here to host my brand and career. It should be an example of what you’ll get if you hire me, and it should show you what I have to offer.

My experience with WordPress so far has existed in very sterile environments where someone more experienced could easily take over if something went wrong. With this site, I am the experienced one. Which means things will go wrong.

To help you understand who I am, I have a few points:

• I write, a lot. I write dumb political rants on Facebook. I write birthday cards to my loved ones. I write bad poems and little notes of love and highlights about working with my teammates. I also write trivia professionally, on top of SEO-focused web content.
• I paint, not a lot. I’m practicing, but I’m calling myself an artist. Want to support me? Follow my Instagram, and keep an eye out here for an upcoming virtual gallery.
• I learn. I learn from the people around me, and I take classes to supplement that. I’m insecure in my knowledge about the world, so I compensate by taking notes. Want to share notes sometime? Let’s grab coffee and chat.
• I forge ahead. I’m not the best writer. I’m not the best anything. But I get work done, and I accept criticism, and I hone my skills. I know a little bit about a lot of things, and I support the people and work happening around me. If you want a genius, I can connect you to one. If you want a team player with leadership skills, I’m your gal.

I know I’m not perfect, or experienced, or genius. But I am great, and I have great potential. Get to know me by exploring this site or asking for a virtual coffee.
