In 2022, I had the opportunity to (search engine) optimize All Criminal Justice Schools, a website in the education space that hadn’t seen new content in many years. This was a large site that didn’t have great architecture, click depth or schema data, and it hadn’t been optimized to modern CWV and EEAT algorithm updates.
The optimization plan I presented and implemented included:
- Add blog to site for interest and news posts
- Add specialty hub for specific jobs
- Architect careers in hub and spoke model
- Clarify keyword goals by splitting law enforcement hub into local and federal hubs
- Add emerging criminal justice career hubs of cybersecurity and emergency management
- Create private investigations hub
- Update existing content to remove keyword cannibalization, improve EEAT, add SME expertise, increase depth of information, add structured data, improve heading structures, and include in-content product widgets
- Update taxonomy to reflect current situation
Pages updated spring of 2022, and even pages updated in August and September of 2022, began to see a YoY growth in traffic, both impressions and clicks, in December of 2022 and January 2023.
